Wandsworth Sustainable September 2026

Sustainable September is a month celebrating and championing local sustainability initiatives in Wandsworth.

About Sustainable September

Each year, residents, community groups, businesses, schools, charities, and Wandsworth Council have collectively put on an array of climate focused events and start new sustainability initiatives which have often continued beyond the month.

How to get involved

There are different ways you can get involved with Sustainable September and discover sustainable initiatives across the borough.

You can attend an event, run an event, or simply spread the word!

If you are planning to run an event this year, we would love to hear about it. Please email the team to let us know.

Running an event

Themes could include nature and biodiversity, reuse and recycling, gardening, health and wellbeing, improving our green spaces, air quality, active travel, and green education.

Venues could include community centres, pubs, schools and universities, gardens, riverbanks, rooftops, art studios, pubs, cultural landmarks, libraries, theatres, churches, local streets, and parks.

Example projects could include a project to plant or re-wild a community space, a repair or reuse initiative, a sustainable street festival, a nature trail, or an art and photography session celebrating our local environment.

The month also encompasses Car Free Day on 22 September, with the council waiving fees for street parties held on the weekend of 19/20 September. Residents can apply to host a Car-Free Day street party by 4 September.
