Offensive hygiene waste disposal
Early collections due to hot weather
Waste collections may start from 5am this week (27 to 31 July) to avoid crews working in the hottest part of the day.
Please make sure your bins are out by 5am on your usual collection day - put them out the night before if you can. Report missed collections as usual, and we'll aim to collect as soon as possible.
Offensive hygiene waste can be disposed with your normal refuse but must be wrapped up thoroughly first (e.g. incontinence pads should be double wrapped).
Check whether your waste is hazardous clinical waste requiring separate collection.
Waste produced during treatment
If offensive hygiene waste is produced within your home during the course of home treatment administered by a healthcare service provider, it is not domestic waste. It is the service provider's responsibility to arrange the collection and disposal of this waste, not the resident's.
